An Inexpensive Car Can Make a Better Option
Cars are a symbol of power. We’ve all seen the stories about moguls with multi-story garages and huge luxury car collections. An inexpensive car is the way to go for some folks. Poor quality doesn’t necessarily follow cheap price. Less costly can still be exciting to drive.
Buy a discounted used car if you want to save some cash. Second hand luxury models are cheaper than new. A whole new term has emerged for higher quality used vehicles - pre-owned. Some people who always bought new have crossed over into pre-owned. Think about luxury vehicles. A Mercedes or Lexus is so well built that even 10 year old cars can still be in excellent condition. Many people always buy late model used cars instead of new ones.Remember the chauffeur in “Driving Miss Daisy”? He always bought Miss Daisy’s second hand, luxury cars.
There are also some nice, low cost new cars. Hyundai makes some models that are decent for less than $12K. A car like the Honda Civic weighs in at about $15,000 for one of the best engineered cars in the world. That car lasts a long time, and gets great gas mileage. Cheaper cars are also generally less costly to maintain, and they don’t require premium gasoline.
There are even relatively less expensive luxury cars. Audi makes luxury cars that compete with Mercedes and Lexus, but generally at the lower end of the price spread for like models. Nobody beats Audi as far as engineering. The Audi TT can be just as much fun as a Porsche, but much less expensive.
Some people mean really cheap when they say cheap. They don’t care if the car is held together with chewing gum and wire. Teens often buy this style of car. This type of car is good practice for a life of car care, and it gets the job done. But watch out, the age old adage “You get what you pay for” applies to cheap cars too. When the car overheats, you won’t be happy.
