As we all are aware we are in the middle of a huge credit crunch. This has led to big companies slashing the amount of people that they employ in call centres. Only recently Sky was featured on the BBC channel Watchdog, the main complaints were against their call waiting times.

People have hectic lives in this day and age and they simply do not have the time to stay on the phone for hours. They want to be able to call up and speak to someone straight away, but that is not happening with companies at the moment. There are two things that companies are doing these days:

1) They make it so hard to actually get through to a human being, they have so many options to choose from and if you end up choosing the wrong one they briefly give you a message and then hang the phone up on you, which can become extremely annoying.

2) Once you do finally manage to get through to the section where you can speak to some one they leave you on hold for up to two hours.

This is one of the main reasons as to why the company Sky were investigated by the Watchdogs. On one occasion they left people waiting on hold for almost 3 hours which is a huge amount. I do know that businesses are finding it very difficult at the moment, but they need to pull something out of the hat before they all leave. The way around this would be for companies to get a freephone 0800 number, the reason behind this is because they could then actually show their clients that we want your call, we are just busy at the moment but if you stay on hold we are willing to pay for the entire wait.
