Purchase advice for when you’re looking for a new mp3 player
Mp3 player manufacturers never really intended their players to be used solely for audiobooks, but for music. However, it’s great that these days many people have begun to download audio books for listening on their MP3 players aswell.
The fact that they can carry around their MP3 players, instead of listening to audio books on the PCs make the players very popular.
However, one snag is that if you don’t know what you are looking for, you might end up buying the wrong MP3 player for listening to your audio books.
Below are some of the factors to consider that will help you get the right MP3 for listening to your audio book:
1. Interruptions are annoying, so you must look for an mp3 player that can deal with this. As I’m sure you can imagine, listening to a track on an album again isn’t too bad, but having to start an audiobook right from start after having already listened to two hours really isn’t fun.
Please, do take some time browsing and testing the mp3 players in the store to make sure they will allow you to start again from the place where you last stopped.
Make sure the store you are in lets you test the mp3 player before you finalise the purchase. If you are happy that it is working okay, then go for it. If it doesn’t, search for another that does.
2. Ensure that the MP3 player’s volume is loud enough. You need to be sure that you will also be able to listen to the mp3 player without the earphones - and that you’ll actually be able to hear it.
For example, if you are in an airport, you should be able to listen to your MP3 player without using earphones. You could be caught up in traffic without your earphone and want to listen to an audio book on your MP3 player; so volume is important in such cases.
3. A large memory capacity is vital when searching for an mp3 player. Since you would be storing your audio book in the MP3 player, you should purchase the one that has enough memory for audio books of up to 5 hours or more.
Mp3 players with flash memory or an SD card slot are the best buys.
4. Style has always been a big thing with mp3 players - the smaller it is, the more attractive it seems. Style isn’t everything though, so make sure you don’t give up quality or durability.
5. You should always purchase an mp3 player which has been made by a reputable company. I definitely wouldn’t recommend buying an mp3 player just because it is cheap. Many poor quality mp3 players are made in Asian countries. A great deal of these cheap mp3 players are just not worth purchasing.
Journey’s in your car can also now be more pleasurable, as many car manufacturers have started to build in the capability to connect your mp3 player to the car stereo. If you don’t have this in your car, you could use an AUX socket to connect your mp3 player.
As an audiobook lover myself, an excellent source that I have found for audio book downloads is Spoken Network. You can find them at:
